Project - Concrete Jungle Kit - Folder album

This was a fun and is a fair challenge to put together, mostly because I really wanted to add beads to the stitching and that adds a couple of extra steps since the darn needs was too big to fit through the beads, so I had to do a lot of rethreading of the needle!

I decorated all the pages and it is just ready for some photos. I love how it just folds up nice and compactly.

Christmas - Treat ideas - Snowman Soup

"Matchbook" Snowman Soup Stocking Stuffer

Supplies:
-Cardstock
-Snowman rubberstamp
-Stars image rubberstamp: Club Scrap
-Inks
-Stickles Glitter glue*
-Mini Ziplock baggie: Joann Fabrics

*note: not all glitter glues are the same. I purchased 3 big bottles for $1 at the dollar store and they were awful, at least the red was, there was hardly any glitter compared to the amount of glue, it looked better after I applied a couple of layers (letting layers dry in between). I highly recommend the "Stickles" brand of glitter glue (it runs about $2 for a tiny bottle) - as there is a ton of very vibrant glitter with a sharp point for an applicator, great for detail work. I did try the Joann Essentials glitter glue as well, and it is not bad, the applicator is not as sharp, but the glitter wasn't too bad in it.

Snowman Soup Ingredients:
1 packet of hot chocolate
10 mini marshmallows
3 Hershey kisses
1 candy cane

Instructions:

1. Fill your small ziploc bags with the snowman soup ingredients. Zip closed, squeezing out excess air.
2. Measure your bag in each direction. Take the long side measurement, double it and add 2 more inches.
3. Now for my piece shown above - I figured out my measurements all on a 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock and pre-printed the poem (for poem see below) and 'snowman soup' title before cutting out my matchbook.
4. Cut a piece of cardstock using the short side measurement and the new long side measurement.
5. Now we need to take that piece of cardstock and measure down 1 inch and score a line. This is the fold at the base of the matchbook - where you will eventually staple it together. Now measure the distance from that score line the long side measurement of your bag, make a score line. Measure 1 more inch, the is the top part of the matchbook, score a line.
6. Now you need to do your stamping. Figure out which side you want your snowman and stamp him. Ink edges if you chose to do so.
7. Get your stickles and add highlights to the snowman, snow, etc. Let this dry, it could take a couple of hours.
8. Once dry, you can fold all your crease lines. Now I did mine, so that the bulky end (the end with the closure) of the ziplock baggie would be the end you tuck down into the bottom flap and then, stapled the whole thing together. Note: When you staple, staple kinda half way or a tad lower, this will allow enough room for your flap to fit into the stapled flap.
9. So now you can fold over the flap and tuck it into the stapled section.

Always glad to hear it
With freezing weather drawing near
You'll need to warm the spirit.

So here's a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick
Add hot water, sip it slow
It's sure to do the trick!

Christmas - Treat ideas - Popcorn Wrappers

Supplies:

Cardstock
Rubberstamps
Inks
Stickles Glitter glue* (optional)
Microwave popcorn (comes in standard size or mini single serve packs, mini packs can be found at Walmart, for about $2.50 for 12 bags)

Instructions:

1. Measure your popcorn bag in each direction. Take that measurement and add a few more inches to each side, so that your piece of cardstock will wrap around the popcorn and the flaps will over lap some, enough so that you can adhere or staple them together.
2. Score your cardstock so that the piece of cardstock will cleanly fold around the popcorn package.
3. Once you have the cardstock cut, you are ready to rubberstamp your images on to the front panel of the cardstock, color with markers, pencils or use glitter glue. The glue option will need to dry for a couple of hours.
4. Type your sentiment and print out. Cut out sentiment and mat. Adhere to the front panel.
5. Ink edges of wrapper.
6. Once complete and dry, wrap around your popcorn and adhere the flaps on the back side.

Here is a couple of the cards from ClubScrap Natural Resources Greetings-to-Go card making kit.

Christmas - Ornaments - Alcohol Ink'd glass

ALCOHOL INK'D GLASS ORNAMENTS

Supplies:
-Clear glass ornaments
-Various colors of Alcohol inks
-Fine Glitter
-DUO liquid adhesive/glue
-Alcohol Ink Applicator (wooden stamp handle/felt)
-Ribbon
-Wire
-Hot Glue gun

Instructions:

1. Take your glass ornaments, remove the metal topper, and rinse them out with hot water and let them dry completely. I let mine dry overnight.
2. Once dry, squeeze about a tablespoon of liquid glue (make sure you use one that dries clear & stays tacky, like DUO does), roll your ornament around, so that the entire inside of the ornament is covered with the glue. You may have to add more or less depending on the size of your ornament. Flip ornament over so excess glue can drip out of the ornament. I find an old egg carton works well for this. Let the glue dry completely, it will dry clear. I let mine dry overnight.
3. Add a little bit of glitter at a time to the inside of the ornament. Shake it all around, so that the glitter sticks to all the surfaces inside the ornament.
4. To add the alcohol inks, I did a combination of two different methods of application. By just using the applicator tool, you will get a very light look of the alcohol inks. I wanted to have a more vibrant look, so I - VERY CAREFULLY - squeezed on a SINGLE drop of the alcohol ink onto the ornament, and very slowly turned the ornament from side to side to move the ink around, I also softly blew on the ink to spread it. Occasionally it would run too quickly and that is when I would use the tool and dab it to mix it. I did my ornaments assembly line style, so I would add one color in various spot on an ornament, then set aside to completely dry. I put my drying ornaments on the ends of pens/pencils in a cup for drying. Then when I had one color on all the ornaments, I started with the second color, applying directly and using the applicator tool as needed. You want to be sure and the let colors dry in between applying the next color, just to ensure they don't get a muddy look. I used between 2-4 colors of the inks on the ornaments shown in the photo above.
5. Once your ornament is dry, I reinstalled the metal topper to the ornament. Then I used wire and tied a ribbon for the top, and hot glued it into place on the metal topper.

Christmas - Ornaments - "Beaded Wonder"

“Beaded Wonder” Ornament

Supply list:
-Cardstock: Club Scrap
-All rubberstamps: Club Scrap
-Ink: Tsukineko Brillance Platinum
-Superior Palette Black Noir
-Hirschberg beaded trim
-Suze Weinberg Wonder tape
-Eye pin: Club Scrap
-DMC Floss
-Crafter’s pick glue

1. Cut (8) pieces of red cardstock 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches.
2. Rubberstamp “sprig” image in black, and various “sentiments” in silver on red pieces, Ink all edges with black ink. Repeat on all squares.
3. Score a line from corner to corner in both directions. Repeat on all squares.
4. Cut one of the score lines from corner to center of square. Repeat on all squares.
5. Fold on score lines, overlapping flaps creating 3D triangles. Adhere the flaps together. Repeat on all squares.
6. Adhere all the triangles together in two sets of four creating the top and the bottom of the ornament. When creating top, add a loop of DMC floss and glue in with Crafter’s pick glue. Let dry. When creating the bottom, glue in an eye needle to eventually hang the beads from.
7. Now run a strip of the wonder tape about the edge of the bottom ornament. Remove red backing on tape and attach beaded trim. Run another strip of wonder under on the top ornament, remove backing and attach the top of ornament to the bottom.
8. Take another eye needle and feed some of the same beads from the trim onto it. Using needle nose pliers, bend the end of the eye needle through the eye needle glued in bottom of ornament creating a closure.

Christmas - Ornaments - Paper rolls

Glass Ornament with Paper rolls

Here is a very fun and easy ornament that looks great. This is an excellent ornament to make with your kids for teacher gifts as well. Each ornament takes approximately 1 sheet of scrapbook paper, or if you have complimenary patterned paper, you can cut up 1 of 4 different and come out with 4 ornaments.

Supply List:
Scrapbook paper
Clear glass ornament
Quilling tool (optional)
Embellishments (if desired)

*Glitter glue
*Holiday rub-ons
*Paper necklace

Instructions:

1. Cut your 12x12 sheet of paper into strips 1/2 inch wide, 12 inches long.
2. Remove the glass ornament top.
3. I used a quilling tool, just to make things a little faster and easier to roll up the paper, but you could freehand roll them up as well. Just start rolling up the strips into itty bitty rolls.
4. Drop the little rolls into the ornament, repeat until you have the ornament filled up with them.
5. Replace the ornament top.
6. You can decorate the outside of your ornament with glitter glue, Christmas word rub-ons, or make a paper necklace (use 2 inch squares cut on the diagonal and then folded, adhere together around neck of ornament.
7. Add ribbon or hook to hang.

Christmas - Ornaments - “Seasons Greetings” Trio

“Seasons Greetings” Trio

Here I will show you 3 different examples for making some great stamped ornaments for decorating your house. Most all materials shown in this project are from Club Scrap.

Supply list:
-Cardstock: Club Scrap
-“Sprig” stamp: Club Scrap
-“Seasons Greetings” stamp: ANM
-Ink: Tsukineko Brillance Gold
-Posh Impressions Gold Accent Pen
-Crafters Pick Glue
-DMC Floss

1. Cut (4) pieces of green cardstock and (4) pieces of burgundy cardstock all 6 inches x 6 inches. Cut (4) pieces of green cardstock and (4) pieces of burgundy cardstock all 4 inches x 4 inches. Cut (4) pieces of green cardstock and (4) pieces of burgundy cardstock all 2 inches x 2 inches.
2. Rubberstamp “sprig” image in gold on green pieces, stamp “seasons greetings” in gold on burgundy pieces. Repeat on all squares.
3. Score a line from corner to corner in both directions. Repeat on all squares.
4. Cut one of the score lines from corner to center of square. Repeat on all squares.
5. Fold on score lines, overlapping flaps creating 3D triangles. Adhere the flaps together. Repeat on all squares.
6. Adhere all the triangles together in sets of two (1 top and 1 bottom) alternating between green and burgundy, once you have 4 sets in one size, then adhere ONLY three of the sets together, again alternating colors. Set aside and repeat on other two ornaments.
7. Now run a strip of crafter’s pick glue down the center of the largest ornament. Take a long piece of DMC floss folded in half, creating a loop at the top of the largest ornament, lay down the center in the glue. Now attach the last set of triangles to the ornament. Leave about 1-2 inches between ornaments and repeat steps to attach the next two ornaments. Let dry
8. Wrap extra floss around the top of hanging floss to create a faux tassel at base of ornaments. Trim up floss as needed.

Christmas - Treat ideas - Santa's Trail Mix

Santa’s Trail Mix

Here is some fun gifts we made for my son’s classmates and neighbor.

Supply List:
Plastic container or clear plastic baggies
Cardstock
Rubberstamps (Club Scrap)
Ink
Red marker
Stapler/staples

Snack Mix:
Cinnamon Graham cereal
White chocolate covered pretzels
Chocolate covered raisins
Red & Green M&M’s

Instructions:

1. Using a “map” image (Club Scrap) rubberstamp, repeatedly stamp the image to cover cardstock. Cut out to match the size of your container (or to fit your baggie).
2. Ink edges with same color ink.
3. Stamp “Ho Ho Ho” and “Distance Scale” (both Club Scrap) in red ink.
4. Print out the “Santa’s Trail mix” and staple to the cardstock.
5. Draw 4 little red X’s with a red marker and a line in between them all, creating the “trail.”
6. Adhere the cardstock to the container with adhesive, or staple the cardstock to the baggies.

Project - Ziploc bag album

I was going to try and add the link to the album kit from ClubScrap - if the link is broken, that means the kit has sold out. Each bag is a extra thick (not like a standard ziplock bag) ziploc style bag.

Very nice way to store those pages - this will be a great lil album for the teacher at the end of this year.

Card - Happy Birthday Elk on Refresh kit card

Supply List:

Lighter Green card back (Refresh kit/ClubScrap)
Dark Green card front(Refresh kit/ClubScrap)
"Tree" rubberstamp (Clubscrap)
"Elk" rubberstamp (unknown)
"Happy Birthday" stamp (ClubScrap)
Green ink pad
Small fiber
hole punch
Modge Podge

1. Cut a piece of light green cardstock for the cardback. Fold in half.

2. Cut a piece of dark green cardstock a little bit shorter than the card back and rubberstamp Trees all over it, cut a circle out of the center of it.

3. Ink all edges with green ink.

4. Score a line about an inch from the edge of the cut out circle on each side.

5. Fold so that this section pops out from the inside center of the card.

6. Adhere the two outer flaps of the dark green to the light green using modge podge.

7. Cut a circle shape from light green, rubberstamp Elk and ink edges, punch hole.

8. Punch hole at top of cut out opening - tie tag to the opening.

9. Rubberstamp Happy Birthday on scraps, cut out, ink edges, add brads, and attach as shown.

-Posh Impressions Silver Accent Pen
-Crafters Pick Glue
-DMC Floss

1. Cut (8) pieces of red cardstock 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches.
2. Rubberstamp “stars” image in silver on red pieces. Repeat on all squares.
3. Score a line from corner to corner in both directions. Repeat on all squares.
4. Cut one of the score lines from corner to center of square. Repeat on all squares.
5. Fold on score lines, overlapping flaps creating 3D triangles. Adhere the flaps together. Repeat on all squares.
6. Adhere all the triangles together in sets of two (1 top and 1 bottom), once you have 4 sets, then adhere ONLY three of the sets together.
7. Run a strip of crafter’s pick glue down the center of the ornament. Take a long piece of DMC floss folded in half, creating a loop at the top of the ornament, lay the floss down the center of the ornament in the glue. Now attach the last set of triangles to the ornament. Let dry.
8. Edge all sides of ornament using the silver accent pen.
9. Thread on various beads to the floss and finish off with a crimp bead to hold the beads in place.

Christmas - Ornaments - "Paper & Bead"

Beaded Paper Ornaments

Supplies:
-Cardstock: Club Scrap
-Rubberstamps: Club Scrap
-Inks: Ranger Industries
-Beads: Bistro Beads/Club Scrap
-Waxed Cording

Tools needed: circle punches in graduated sizes; beading tools, needle

Instructions:

1. Cut 8 circles. Two of each of 4 sizes (small, med, large, extra large), one in one color and one in another complimentary color (red/green, light blue/dark blue, etc).
2. Rubberstamp various images onto the circles. Ink edges.
3. Take a 12-inch piece of cording, attach a crimp bead to one of the ends, add 3 beads, then add one of the smallest circles. Add three more beads. Add next sized circle in alternating color, repeat until all circles are threaded onto cord. Add last three beads.
4. String on a crimp bead, create a loop (trimming as need to appropriate loop size), feed end of cording back through the crimp bead and crimp.

Alternative options:

* Try with varying shapes of stars (sizzix die); squares; flowers; or other shapes.
* Add Stickles to add sparkle to the ornament.

Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea

Have you ever tried this tea?? Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea. We got a packet of it in our goodie bag at ClubScrap's retreat this year and the taste of it is just FABULOUS!!!! It is soooo freakin' yummy and I am not really a fan of tea. I drink it on occasion but don't reach for it generally - coffee is usual my drink of choice.

I drank my packet last thursday and I have not not not been able to get it out of my head...I finally had to just order some. I swear it is like drinking a candy bar, all the flavor but none of the guilt!! It smelled up my whole car with cinnamon and there is a very sweet honey type taste. It is to die for yummy!
