Matchbox with Earrings

I had these little matchboxes left over from some other project, where I had only used the sliders and not the ‘drawers’ – I finally opted to make new slider covers for them and use them as a perfect little way to hold a pair of handmade earrings.  These will be nice as Abandoned Art gifts, teacher gifts, stocking stuffers, or even as decorative attachments to larger gifts.

Supplies needed:
Matchboxes
Cardstock (ClubScrap Bon Appetite kit)
Adhesive
Inks
Embellishments (feathers, flowers, pearls, etc)
Flower or Star die cuts or punches
Decorative edged punches or scissors
Nestabilities
Embellishements

Instructions:
1.  Remove slider from matchbox, or you can cover the existing slider on the matchbox, your choice.  I removed mine and made my own by measuring the matchbox.  I scored lines to match box dimensions and folded around the box and adhered together.  My measurements were roughly this:

 2.  Add decorative strips cut from color coordinating cardstock and decorated edged scissors or edging punches.  Ink all edges.

3.  To create flowers, punch (4) flowers or stars, varying in size anywhere from 1 ½ inches to 3 inches for color coordinating cardstock.  Carefully crumple up the flowers into a little ball trying to avoid tearing the flowers.  Uncrumple the flowers and ink the ‘mountains’ and edges.  Adhere the 4 flowers, varying the colors of cardstock and petals.  Adhere a button in the middle of the flower.

4.  Using the “Labels Seventeen” nestabilities dies, cut a piece of cardstock that will fit in your matchbox.  Ink edges.  Punch two holes and insert a set of handmade earrings, tape earrings on the backside of cardstock.

3. Fold the two triangular pieces down onto the square section, adhere two flaps together, creating a pocket (that you will tuck the page of a book into eventually).
