Wicked Wednesday Challenge - March

This one I am submitting to Wicked Wednesdays ATC Challenge blog for their "Embellish it" themed challenge, these were all embellished with acrylic paint to make them pop:

Supplies:
Old book pages
Brown ink
White acrylic paint
Rubberstamps
Watercolor paints

Instructions:
Cut out 2.5 x 3.5 pieces from old book pages:

2.  Ink the pages to make them look more antique:

3.  Water down some white acrylic paint and 'wash' over the front:

4.  Rubberstamp images:

5.  Use watercolor paints to color in the images:

6.  Paint around the images with white acrylic paint:

February Artist Challenge ClubScrap

Alpha Stencils - Zentangle

February is already over?...man this month whipped by fast!!  It has warmed up just enough to melt some snow and make it nice a slippery around here.  So its still a good time to stay snug and warm inside being crafty!!

The February Challenge is to use these stencils on your layouts, cards or other projects.

Lower case alpha stencil

Upper case alpha & number stencil

I decided to try my hand at Zentangle with these - I think they turned out pretty good!!  Here is 3 cards I made:

This first one is black cardstock using a white gel pen.

 This second one is white cardstock with purple and teal metallic gel pens.

 This third one is white cardstock with purple and pink Sharpie pens.

Supplies:
Cardstock
Stencils
Black ink pen
Various gel or sharpie pens

Instructions:
Grab a piece of cardstock and your alpha stencils - Using black pen (on white cardstock) or white gel pen (on black cardstock) write out your word as shown:

Then draw various lines across the cardstock every which way, creating quadrants as shown:

Now there is more than a jillion ideas all over the internet for 'filling' the quadrants - I picked a few 'easy' ones and then just filled in the quadrants as shown:

Here is the final cards matted - I think they really turned out pretty good - I have never done the zentangle really before - its actually quite fun!! For the little 'circles' in 2 of the quads - I used another one of Clubscrap's stencils, just so my circles would be nice an round!

On this one, I also used one of ClubScraps retreat stencil to have 'flowers' as sections for doing the zentangle in:

Club Scrap Succulents Blog Hop

Succulents Blog Hop!!

Today I am working with Club Scrap's Succulents Digi Kit.This is such a pretty kit - I love the color theme on this kit.  It has snowed like 22 inches in the last 2 days and I have been shoveling like a mad woman - but decided to take a break and let my back rest a bit and do up some digital scrapbook pages (still trying to keep on with my resolution) !!    Here are the 3 layouts I did today for the blog hop using this fantastic kit:

Mojo Monday Card Sketch challenge

Good morning cyberworld!!  Since I got tired of shoveling snow - we have 22 inches of it - I measured it with a yard stick - I decided to take a break and head down to my scrap shack and play along with Mojo Monday card sketch challenge.  Here is the card i made - I used Club Scrap's Literature kit for the card stock and Paris flea Market for the rubberstamp images.

Rocks - Gel medium

Rocks - Gel Medium

Supplies:
Rocks
Matte Spray Paint - white
Laser printed images/sentiments from ClubScrap UM stamps Transparencies
Gel Medium
Polycrylic protective coating spray

Instructions:
1.  Spray rocks with MATTE white spray paint.  Let dry.  Repeat 2 more times.  Flip rock and repeat 3 times on back side of rock.

2.  Print out sentiments or images with a laser printer the size of the rocks.  If you are printing a sentiment, make sure you print the MIRROR image of it.  Trim out closely around print.

3.  Use a foam paint brush and paint a layer of gel medium onto rock, immediately place image onto rock and press any air bubbles out of it.  DO NOT put any gel medium onto the paper.  LET DRY JUST LIKE THIS FOR 24 HOURS.

4.  Once dry, place rock (paper side down) into a small bowl of water.  Let sit for a few minutes. Take rock and carefully start rubbing in circles and the paper will start coming off of the rock.  I generally run the water and do it under the water, these way it washes the paper away.  If you rub too hard, you might rub the images away, so do it carefully.  If you do happen to rub part away, just grab a black paint pen (or brush and acrylic paint) and fill in the missing bit.  Let the rock dry.

5.  If you want to add some color to your rocks, you can embellish with paint pens or similar.

6.  Spray clear polycrylic aerosol spray onto the rocks.  Let dry.  Repeat 2 more times.  Repeat on back side.

Faux Batik  - Two Techniques

Good morning dear friends - Hope your new year is going well!  Not much going on here but a lot of snow and cold!!  Thank heavens for crafting and Netflix to survive these long cold winters!!

This month's Artist challenge was to create Faux Batik.  Here are my examples of the two different techniques I decided to try out this month for this Challenge.  These are 5x7 canvases I painted.

Supplies:
5x7 Canvas panels
Rubberstamps/Ink
Watercolor paints
Masking fluid (Technique 1)
Bookbinding glue (Technique 2)

Technique 1 - Masking fluid

Believe it or not this is/was my first time using a liquid masking fluid.  I bought this a decade ago - or so it seems - and had a heck of a time getting it to work properly as it had some lumps in it and kept clogging my nozzle....note to self - order a new one!!

Stamp images with black ink.

 Using masking fluid - draw around the images, around different elements within the images, and in the white space around the images as shown.  Let this fully dry, before proceeding:

Using watercolor paint - color in the images:

Here is the final colored in image - let it dry completely before proceeding.

Now - the easiest method I found - was using an eraser to remove the dry masking fluid, leaving white space as shown:

Technique 2 - Glue pen resist

Temporarily mask off a grid and rubberstamp images in sections as shown:

I filled one of the tiny applicators full of book binding glue and drew panels and designs on the panel, I also outlined the images.  Let dry completely.

Once glue is dry, use watercolor paints and fill in images.  You can use a wet q-tip and remove any paint that gets onto the glue.

Clubscrap "Color Me Happy" Blog Hop

Color Me Happy Blog Hop!!

Today I am working with Club Scrap's Color Me Happy.This is such a pretty kit - I really like the dragonfly element - I can't wait for the actual kit to arrive, so I can play with that stamp!!  Since I am here having a very low key day, or maybe its the fact I am trying to avoid 'de-decorating' - I decided to download and play with the Color Me Happy digital kit today.  I know I haven't scrapbooked hardly at all in a very long time.  One of my resolutions this year - is to try and do a bit more digital scrapbooking and get another scrapbook done this year.  In theory I would like to print a digital book a year with a smattering of layouts - I really like the fact that the digital 'coffee table' type books have a very small footprint in my bookcase and they look soooo professional once printed.  Here are the 3 layouts I did today for the blog hop using this fantastic kit:
