Club Scrap June Blog Hop - Wall art canvas

Welcome to ClubScrap's Monthly kit Blog Hop!!!

So this month, ClubScrap's kit is "Hope" in lovely browns, tans, orange, cream and charcoal colors!!  There is some outrageously funny sentiments on the unmounted rubberstamps which is the inspiration for my project today!  I loved the sentiment that reads "Life is too short to remove the USB drive safely!" - I hate removing the USB drive 'safely' - drives me nuts, rarely IF EVER remove it properly, always just yank it out!  Soooo I just HAD to create a piece of wall art to add to my new office wall with that sentiment on it!

Supply list:
8x10 Canvas
Gel medium
Embellishments (gems, paper flowers, brads)

1.  Cut Hopes 12x12 Handmade Woven Print to fit front of canvas.  Adhere to canvas using Gel medium. Let Dry.

2.  Ink edges of canvas using light brown ink.

3.  Cut roughly 20 petals.  I cut 4 petals from 5 different patterned papers from Hopes kit.  Cut a half circle from gray cardstock for center of flower.  Ink edges with light brown ink.

4.  Adhere petals to canvas using Gel Medium.

5.  Print out sentiment onto 2 colors of cardstock (light gray and cream).

6.  Trim out words from sentiment and ink edges with light brown ink.

7.  Figure out where you want the sentiments placed to evenly spread them down the side of the canvas along the flower.

8.  Adhere the words to the canvas using Gel Medium, put the medium over the top of the words.  Let everything dry.

9.  Add various embellishments, the gems here and there as shown along with brads in the center of small orange paper flowers.

  1. I. Love. It! Thanks for the great step-by-step photos, too, Deb. You're a rock star with the project ideas! I hope the canvas makes everyone who enters your office chuckle! (Your poor little USB drive.)

  2. The sentiment made me laugh! What a cute thing to hang in your office. I'll have to test out the gel medium. I didn't realize it would work like "glue". Thanks for sharing!

  3. Great wall art, Deb and I am sure your office space is getting prettier by the day and your fellow workers are happy to pass by your wall!

  4. WOW, Deb this canvas wall hanging is AMAZING! Love the flower and the funny sentiment! I too am always pulling those suckers out too hard LOL.
Anyway, great job with your project and I am definitely going to use your piece as an inspiration for future projects. Wonderful!

  5. Wow I love this and it's not too complicated-I think even I could do it!!! I love the giant flower!

  11. You are so clever. Love the book cover that you did.

  12. Another great idea and one may just have to copy. I like how you enlarged the stamped phrase to use on the canvas. Now I need to look at all my favorite CS quotes for my canvas.

  13. OMG! I love it and love the Life is too short... quote. I wanna make one just like it! Thanks for the inspiration!
