Club Scrap "Transformations" Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog today!!  Its been a nightmare of a month "electronically" speaking in my household.  To start with, my laptop died and its been 3 weeks now with no computer - talk about me going crazy.  Then we started losing wireless signal in our house every time the microwave was being used, but it started getting worse and we kept getting dropped constantly.  I ended up having to buy a new router.  Then it turns out our phone company, who our internet service provider works through, has over sold internet service in our town, so every night - like clock work - our internet quits working at 8:15pm.  I almost didn't think I would be able to get a blog post done this month.  I am working on my son's tablet to get this done.  And I am crossing my fingers I will get my laptop back by the end of this week!!

So this month I wanted to make something that I could use to carry all my ATC cards to retreat next week and in turn, have a place to store the ones I get from the other lovely ladies at retreat!!  I found a project that was a photo album wallet.  I used the same technique, but modified the measurements to hold ATC cards instead of photos.  I also added a ribbon to make the wallet more of a purse.  There is 4 sections each holding 6 ATC's.  I also added a clip with ribbons and a pen.  Now to finish up the ATC cards before retreat!!

Club Scrap September Artist Challenge

Sketch Challenge

 

This month's challenge was to use follow one of Club Scrap's sketches.   I chose to do the scrapbook page layout sketch.  These are some old old photos of my kiddos - so fun to look back at them - they have grown so much, so fast.  Here is the sketch:

I used this Club Scrap months' kit "Transformations" which I totally love.

Gone Fishing Birthday card

Gone Fishing Birthday Card

Made this card for my dad for his birthday!  I haven't used alcohol inks in a while, but sure do love the look of them.

Supplies:
Foil tape
Alcohol inks
Rubberstamps
Ink pads
Embossing folder

Instructions:
To create the background. Take a piece of cardstock the size needed for the card block.  Carefully cover the cardstock with foil tape.

Using various colors of alcohol inks pounce onto foil.  Let dry.

Using an embossing folder, emboss the foiled cardstock.

Finish card as shown.

Club Scrap August Blog Hop

Club Scrap "Woven Strands" Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog today!!  So glad to have you here.  I have been fighting a darn headache for 2 weeks now, so I didn't feel well enough to scrap too terribly much so far this month...Finally went to doctor and got some meds, hoping I will start healing up pretty soon... I made a few cards for the blog hop - really loving this month's kit!!

This is an extremely simple technique for the cards - just stamp the image onto white cardstock and then cut into strips or squares, then ink in various colors of ink using sponge daubers.  Mat onto card backs and add some of the cute little gems that came in the ClubScrap kit this month!

 Using Twin Tags Honeycomb Stencil from Club Scrap, I sponged on yellow and brown inks around edge of card front.  Stamped images and sentiment.  Used yellow sharpie to color bees a little bit.  Mat and adhere to card back

Stenciled Colorful Oppsy Daisy card

 Simple stenciled card - use the Twin Tags Honeycomb Stencil - Just stencil in all sorts of inks using sponge daubers.  Remove stencil and stamp image and sentiment in black ink.  Mat and adhere to card back.

Club Scrap August Artist Challenge

Stencils & Acrylic Paint Technique

This month's challenge was to use stencils.   I had never tried to use Acrylic paint with my stencils even though I have watch Tim Holtz use paint and wanted to give it a go.

So to start off - you need to use a thick acrylic paint, not the pourable kind.  The pourable kind will just slide right under the stencil and mess up the image.  I used squeeze tubes of paint from Artist Loft, or I also had some daubers of acrylic paint that have almost dried up - I just put the almost dried out paint onto my craft sheet added water and mixed until a thick but spreadable consistency.  If you have the pourable paint, you can mix with a gel medium to thicken it up and work with that as well.

Supply list:
Acrylic paint
Rubberstamps
Stencils
Ink

Card 1  - It's your birthday (Bees)
Using an old plastic credit card, spread yellow acrylic paint over part of stencil onto card front.

Remove stencil - run wash it off - and let the acrylic paint dry.
Cut some circles and stamp 'bee' image and mat onto larger circles.  Adhere to card front.  Stamp sentiment.  Mat onto card back.

Card 2 - Giraffe card

Using an old plastic credit card, spread brown acrylic paint over part of stencil onto card front.

 Remove stencil - run wash it off - and let the acrylic paint dry.

Stamp 'giraffe' image onto a piece of white cardstock and mat on green cardstock.

Adhere matted image onto card front.

Card 3 - Butterfly kisses

This one I did a little different, instead of using acrylic paint, I used wood filler paste.  I got this from the hardware store.  It is that stuff you'd use to fill in a hole in a piece of wood.  It is a squeeze bottle and is a little thick (course I have had this for years, might just be a little dried out), so I added a little water to thin it out and make it real spreadable.  I then spread out on stencil.

Remove stencil and let dry. Go wash stencil.

Then I used Delusion sprays to color the entire card.  Let dry.

I inked the edges of the card front with brown and a little black ink.  I used the large 'butterfly' image from Papillion kit stamped ink black ink on white cardstock and spritz with some red delusions spray, let dry.  Then I used sharpie pens to color in some of the spots on the butterfly.  Add additional embellishments and mat onto card back as shown.
