Cards - Terrific Triangle cards

Terrific triangle cards. This card is a very unique way to send a fun greeting to someone special. It folds flat, but opens up to create a cool 3D triangular structure similar to a pyramid. Most all materials shown in this project are from Club Scrap.

Supply List
12 x 12 inch pattern paper
6 ¼ x 6 ¼ inch cardstock
Rubberstamps
Inks
Bone folder
Ribbon/Fibers
Eyelets
Adhesive
Embellishments

Instructions:

1. Cut a 12in x 12in piece of pattern paper into (4) 6in x 6in pieces of paper.
2. Take one of the 6x6 pieces and fold in half diagonally. Unfold.

3. Now fold diagonally on opposite corners. Unfold.
4. Trim off one of the triangles, using care not to cut the entire triangle off, as we want to reserve part of that 4th triangle for a FLAP. See diagram for specifics.
5. Score with bone folder and create a mountain fold horizontally on triangle from the center to the right. See diagram.
6. Repeat on the other three pieces of 6x6 paper.
7. Rubberstamping images and ink edges of paper.
8. Fold each of the sections into a 3D triangle by adhering the FLAP to the back (non-pattern) side of triangle A. Triangle C folds up and sandwiches between triangles A & B.
9. Repeat on the other 3 sections.
10. To create covers of card, take the 4 ¼ x 4 ¼ inch cardstock and cut in half diagonally. Rubberstamp and ink edges.
11. Now take one of the triangle sections and adhere the front cover to triangle A, then adhere the 2nd triangle section’s side A to the 1st triangle section’s side B. Repeat until you get to the last triangle section then add the back cover to side B. Now the whole thing should swing open. The front and back covers should touch.
12. To hold the card either open or closed, add eyelets and ribbon at the 3inch mark on the front and back covers.
13. Embellish card with stickers, cut outs, diecuts, etc as desired.

Here is another version of the card...

Good luck and have fun!!

Card - Tag Pop-Out card

This creates a fairly large “faux tag” card with a pop-up. It is a great for displaying a couple of photos, as the card can stand on its own – in an open display. I used patterned cardstock and rubberstamped the back side to create my tag card. Most all materials used in this project are from Club Scrap (www.clubscrap.com)

Supplies needed:

(3) 7in x 7in squares of cardstock/paper (for inside pop-up)
(2) 5.25 in x 9 in cardstock (for main tag book)
(2) 3.25 in x 3.25 in cardstock (for hinges)
Various inks
Various rubberstamps
Various ribbons or fibers
Eyelets or button snaps (optional)

1. Get cardstock cut to appropriate sizes. Rubber stamp images in a collage format all over both sides of main tag book pieces, one side of hinges, and one side of pop-up pieces.
2. Ink edges of all pieces, using sponge or direct ink pad to cardstock technique.
3. Take main tag book pieces and round one end of corners. Take hinges, score lengthwise, and fold in half. Put the two tag book pieces together and adhere outside hinge. Open up card, adhere half of inside hinge first, then put adhesive on other side and carefully close card, and press in place. Now you can make the end of the card however you like, you can do two diagonal cuts or round the entire end, whatever suits your fancy. Punch hole using an eyelet if you prefer and adhere fibers or ribbons.
4. Creating the inside pop-up is a little more difficult, so I have a few diagrams for you to look at, just try and follow the steps best you can.
5. Attach one side of pop-up about 1 inch from end of tag card, making sure to adjust to clear your tag hole. Once attached, then put adhesive on other end of pop-up and close the card, pressing down to ensure the adhesive takes.
6. Now open it up and vola’ a pop-up card. Now you can add photos, greets, images, you name it to complete your project.

Different possibilities could include doing a snap button and fiber closure to hold the card together. Tying fibers together to hold book closed. Create a flap and Velcro closure. Using elastic to create a rubberband type closure that could be removed.

Good luck and have fun!

Christmas - Advent Calendar - 12 days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas Advent Tree

I thought this was the cutest idea. You can create even bigger sandwiches with two drawers on each side, creating a 24 drawer tree with an extra matchbox on the tip top for 25 if you wanted to do a full months worth of drawers. I think my kids are going to have a great time with this during the holidays as I will be putting little notes and/or sweets in each drawer for them to find. Most all materials used in this project are from Club Scrap.

Supply List:
-Patterned paper: Club Scrap
-Cardstock: Club Scrap
-Rubberstamps: Club Scrap
-Ink: Brilliance Gold
-Gold Accent Pen: Impress
-Mat board
-Modge Podge
-Crafter’s Pick Ultimate Glue
-Wooden drawer pulls or rubber ‘feet”
-Gold spray paint
-Glue dots
-Double sided red tape (Art Accentz)
-Small Matchbox Template
-Medium Matchbox Template
-Large Matchbox Template
-Quikutz Paige Numbers
-Sizzix Christmas light & Star die cuts
-Xyron

Instructions:

1. Create (4) small matchboxes, (4) medium matchboxes, and (4) large matchboxes using matchbox templates.

2. Fold drawer and slider cut outs into matchboxes. Adhere edges using glue dots. Ink edges of both sliders to distress.

3. Rubberstamp gold images of tree sprig onto the outer edge of matchbox that will be showing on the final piece. Repeat on all boxes and let dry.

4. Cover all 6 pieces of mat board with pattern paper. To do this, cut pattern paper larger than mat board by 1 inch on all four sides. Apply modge podge to mat board and place in center of pattern paper. Hold flat for a few seconds. Trim all four corners at an angle. Use modge podge and apply to the four flaps and fold over the mat board, holding in place until secure. Repeat on all pieces of mat board.

5. Take the 4 small matchboxes and place in a square, end of box to side of box all the way around. Making sure the rubberstamped images are on the outside and that each box drawer opens out one way. Use modge podge and apply to bottom side of the mat board pieces and make sort of a sandwich. Mat board – 4 boxes – Mat board sandwich. Hold the whole sandwich together while the glue sets up. You can carefully place under a heavier object to dry. Repeat with other two sets of four boxes and their associated mat board pieces.

6. While your sandwiches are drying, take your rubber or wooden “feet” and spray paint gold. Paint all sides and let dry thoroughly.

7. Once your three sandwiches are dry. Flip to the bottom side and use Crafter’s Pick glue to adhere the gold feet, one in each of the four corners of you box sandwiches. Let dry.

8. Use your Sizzix machine and cut out 12 gold Christmas lights and 4 large gold stars.

9. Use your Quikutz tool and cut out the numbers 1-12 using the green cardstock. Run numbers through the Xyron machine and place onto the Christmas lights.

10. To create the ‘handles’ for the drawers, use scrap pieces of ¼ inch wide strips about 1.5 inches long. Bend in half and use double sided sticky tape to stick to the back of the Christmas light and the inside of each drawer. Now you can use the light bulb to pull and the drawer will slide open.

11. To create the star topper. Take all four stars and score a line down the center of each one. Fold the stars in half. Adhere two stars together first, then the other two stars. Now take a piece of scratch gold paper and cut a piece about ¾ inch by 8 inches. Fold in half and glue together. Now glue the two sets of stars together placing the 4 inch piece of gold for a base. Small bits of while may be showing on the star where they don’t match up perfectly. Trim as necessary, then outline the entire star with a gold accent pen.

12. Carefully, using an exacto knife, cut a 5/8 ths inch slit in center of smallest box sandwich to slide the star into.

13. Now you can stack the three sandwiches, star on top and you have an adorable little Advent Christmas tree where you can place small sentiments, sweets, or surprises.

If you decide to try this project - email me and I will email you back the templates for the matchboxes.

Have fun and good luck!

Cards - Triangle "Winged" Cards

I am always on the look out for ways to create fun looking and unique cards. This technique is very simple, and produces a fun card with a good variety of looks to it. My kids love making cards using this technique – then they get to embellish them and they are very fun.

Supplies needed:

¨ Cardstock
¨ Rubberstamps
¨ Ink
¨ Embellishments like flowers, brads, etc
¨ Adhesive
¨ Ruler
¨ Pencil
¨ Eraser

1. Cut cardstock into a square to begin creating these cards.

2. Using a ruler and going from opposite corners, locate the center of the cardstock, marking lightly with a pencil.

3. Fold in all four corners so they meet in the middle at the center mark. Erase the pencil mark.

4. Now locate the center of each side of the folder card, mark with pencil lightly and fold the tip of the triangular flap back to the edge at center mark. Erase pencil mark.

5. Ink all edges with an ink pad.

6. Stamp sentiment onto a piece of cardstock and adhere to center.

Jewelry - Beaded "Zipper Pull"

Beaded Zipper Pull

While sitting in the park today, I noticed a young gal with a very large beaded zipper pull. I thought it was intriguing. It was way too large for me and my liking, but it was made with pony beads. So I wondered if I used the tiny beads that came in my monthly Club Scrap kit, if it would work and come out smaller and more suitable to my tastes. Here is what I came up with...

There are a number of different patterns you can download for free off of the internet if you search around. I had to make a few modifications to some of the plans to fit the beads I had.

Supplies:
Beads
wax thread (or similiar)
Safety Pin
Jump ring

Instructions:

Check this SITE for instructions and fun patterns.

Good luck and have fun!!
