Lagoon Blog Hop!!

Hello and welcome to today's blog!!  It is a tough one here today - as I sit here typing - my house smells like SKUNK!!  Yes this morning at 3:30 am my hubby got up to go to work and walked the dogs and one of my two dogs got skunked, then proceeded to tear through the house into our bedroom and hid under our bed.  

Anyways, I was abruptly woken up to lights being thrown on and hubby grabbing the dog and cussing out that darn skunk....

I got up and set the air purifier out into the main room running on full bore, set up the diffuser with some lemon oil running, while hubby started washing the dog.  

Apparently the dog didn't get sprayed too bad, because a single bath seemed to do the job 

(thank you thank you thank you).  

BUT my house still smells - not HORRIBLE - but as I sit here - it SMELLS....

ok, enough of that...

So today I am working with Club Scrap's Lagoon kit.  I created a journal page in my mixed media journal.  There is a lot of steps to this page with a number of stages where you need to wait for drying time - but I really like the way it turned out in the end.  The photos were hard to take, the reflection of the lights on the metallic paints made it difficult to get good photos.  I really liked the saying from the rubberstamp, so by using the digital kit, I was able to print it out separately, enlarge it, and use it in the journal page.

Supply List
Mixed media paper/journal
Gesso
Paint (Teal, Yellow, Copper, Silver)
Rubberstamps
Modge Podge
Gel medium
Color burst
Versamark ink
Embossing powder (verdigris - regular - Inkxpressions - Creative beginnings)
Charcoal Pencil
Stencil

Instructions:
Cover mixed media paper with white gesso, then paint over with teal acrylic paint, while still a little wet, wipe off some of the teal paint with paper towel.

Paint some yellow acrylic paint in various spots as shown:

Once acrylic paint is completely dry, use versamark ink and stamp 'seaweed' images, heat emboss using verdigris embossing powder as shown:

Stamp "circles" image from Club Scrap Pattern Play kit with blue acrylic paint in various spots as shown:

Tear up some paper and stamp with "book" image from Clubscrap Literature kit and ink edges as shown:

Adhere pieces to page in various spots as shown using bookbinding glue or modge podge:

Use gesso and acrylic paints and your finger to go around edges of torn pieces to blend them onto page as shown:

Punch out a bunch of circles and then stamp "book" images from Literature kit as shown:

Adhere to page using modge podge/bookbinding glue as shown, trim off the overlap:

Once dry, outline circles with a charcoal pencil - use your finger to rub the charcoal, will give sort of a shadow effect.  You can go around torn pieces as well.

Using Clubscrap stencil from Dec 2011 - I mixed some Color Burst powder with Gel medium to create little yellow circles in various spots around the page, as shown.  Let dry.

Using Club Scrap DIGITAL kit - print out images.

Cut out images and tentatively place on journal - once you have them where you want them, adhere using modge podge/book binding glue.  Trim pieces that overlap page.

 Use acrylic paints, watered down to fairly think paint to color in the printed images as shown:

 Outline the 'saying' cutouts with copper paint and the 'image' cutouts with silver paint.

You can't really appreciate the metallic paints in the photos - they look way better in real life - but they do look pretty snazzy!!  Here is the final - I ended up coloring the fish more teal than yellow and adding more accent to each of the cutouts and spreading with my fingers to blend.

August Artist Team Challenge

August Artist Team Challenge

Inspired by Pinterest’s newest feature, “Tried it”, the Artist Team challenge this month is to visit the Club Scrap Pinterest account, choose a Pin with a technique or tutorial that inspires you, then make pages, cards or other projects inspired by that Pin. Once your project is complete, click the “Tried it” icon on the Pin, and leave a few words about your experience. you may even post a photo of your finished project.


I chose "Color Burst" Technique to make a set of 3 cards. These are super duper easy but look super duper cool!!

Supplies:
White cardstock
Color burst powder
Water spritzer
Straw
Versamark ink
White embossing powder

Instructions:

Dash some of the Color burst powder onto the white cardstock. Repeat with a 2nd color.

Spritz with a fair amount of water, then blow air throw the straw to make 'legs'. Let this background completely dry. You can use a heat gun if in a hurry.

Stamp sentiments in versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder as shown.

Mat card front onto color coordinating card back. These are super fast and easy cards, that are bright and fun cards!!

Wedding Card (Napkin fold technique)

Good evening bloggers!!   Attended a beautiful wedding today.  We have some long time family friends, whose daughter got married today and it was a gorgeous day for it!!  I decided to make them a fun card using the napkin fold technique which I have never tried out before.  I have seen it around, but never actually tried to out myself.  Surprised just how fast and easy it was to create this card.  I really think it turned out great especially using the Vintage Botany kit from Club Scrap.

Supplies:
Cardstock
Adhesive
Rubberstamps

Instructions:
Score lines and fold as shown in the video:

Cut up triangles to decorate the card:

Make a band to wrap around the card.

I made a matching envelope to place the card into:

Challenge 113 - Exotic

Howdy Bloggers!!  Another hot day today and Smokey!!  Lots of fires burning around Montana making it hard to breathe and causing itchy eyes and various other issues.  I managed to escape to the basement to play for a bit, air seems a little cleaner down there.  I am playing along with  Challenge #113 - Exotic today.   I decided to do a Masterboard - which is so simple to do and gives you 4 fast cards.

I started out with a sheet of watercolor paper, I rubberstamped in black india ink various 'exotic' images from the Club Scrap Paradise kit:

I then watercolored in and around the images and cut the watercolor paper into 4 pieces - to create my 4 card fronts, mount onto lime card back:

Diecut and rubberstamp some labels for fronts of cards as shown:
